Given Atleo is from BC where they represent 1/3 of the voting power a more fair democratic process needs to be instilled. BC is somewhat like Toronto when it comes to the force that they carry. Given the Prairie provinces have a such high FN population I feel that their voice needs to be heard in a fair just manner as do all other Regions.

The election taking place this July is hopefully going to be the start of reinstilling a sense of pride for all First Nations from the East Coast to the West Coast, from the North to the South, all unite.

One Voice One NationGene Onoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8917573032949953963.post-88946470257685294482012-03-19T13:28:26.246-07:002012-03-19T13:28:26.246-07:00What would your take be upon rejecting Indian Stat...What would your take be upon rejecting Indian Status through a demonstration (as an individual or large group effort)in order to begin making a claim for Treaty Status, while at the same time rejecting the Indian Act also with the hope that our leaders will begin to follow suit thereafter?Aaron Tootoosisnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8917573032949953963.post-84470809791994961342012-03-19T09:48:38.706-07:002012-03-19T09:48:38.706-07:00We need a woman to run in this election if nothing...We need a woman to run in this election if nothing else. These forums are good to spread messages and educate people.I ran in a Federal Election and did exactly this and lit a fire under the other canadiates butts. The only canadiate who can answer questions from the heart as a grassroot woman, grandmother, mother, aunty and Leader.Woman are still discriminated against in the North.Look at how the RCMP shot multiple times a woman with 4 children.I dont believe they told the whole story. Why couldnt they wound her instead of riddling her body with bullets cause they felt threatened. If it was that bad than one bullet to the heart why this many bullets!Where are our Leaders and why are they not questioning parliament and senate etc on these actions,....Thank you! I have sovreignty and didnt surrender our lands. They came and took it through the Indian Act.Some Regions have aboriginal rights and title while others gave it up!So who gets to vote on for AFN Chief is my question!Modern Agreement Chiefs verses Sovreign Leaders.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8917573032949953963.post-87724472466753883622012-03-18T20:24:23.124-07:002012-03-18T20:24:23.124-07:00You hit the nail on the head with your comments. O...You hit the nail on the head with your comments. One the Chiefs do not seek guidance from the people on what or who they should vote for in National elections (or Regional). It is a purely individual thing. The people are not considered. They (the Chiefs) won't even tell you who they voted for. As for the Senator; he is a page out of the White Paper. He didn't need a policy to assimilate, he is White (not referring to his appearance but his mindset/actions). We do not need that type of assimilated-sellout trying to speak on behalf of us.Ojibwe Confessionshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10434882024674242926noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8917573032949953963.post-10331124204315970042012-03-17T21:24:40.051-07:002012-03-17T21:24:40.051-07:00total agree.... somehow I omitted quotes around al...total agree.... somehow I omitted quotes around all their hard work .I did catch that video you linked to and struck immediately by Betty-Ann statement "in support of Canada'.
On a side note I have always been cynical when it comes to state awards and metals, particularly when given to Indigenous People, the very state responsible for creating injustice in the first place. That said the only recognition worth a hoot-in my opinion- is that received from ones community and peers, and that doesn't come in the form of a metal.Dirk Buchholzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07570132508341336729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8917573032949953963.post-78142278249549568482012-03-17T15:31:09.146-07:002012-03-17T15:31:09.146-07:00http://aptn.ca/pages/news/2012/03/05/cap-overcomin...http://aptn.ca/pages/news/2012/03/05/cap-overcoming-obstacles-says-national-chief/Pam Palmaterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16471187916007866228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8917573032949953963.post-47810944404070102502012-03-17T15:22:36.021-07:002012-03-17T15:22:36.021-07:00Here is a clip from APTN where Betty-Ann Lavallee ...Here is a clip from APTN where Betty-Ann Lavallee explains why she won the award: "it was for the work that I'd done, that I have done in support of Canada".
